Impact of poverty on education and lack of employment opportunities remain one of the biggest challenges to the Kenyan youth. The FACTS remain that;

  1. At least 35,000 children in Mombasa do not attend school due to poverty and only 55 per cent make it to secondary school.
  2. Significant barriers to education include; school fees, uniforms, books and stationaries, sanitary towels, etc.
  3. Many girls miss an average of 4 days in school every month due to lack of sanitary towels, meaning they fall behind in class and sometimes drop out of school altogether?
  4. Due to the slow economic growth, corruption, nepotism and demand for experience by potential employers, 67% of youth (ages 15 – 35 years) remain unemployed. IMG_6789
